Dr. Asante VanWest-Charles-Le Blanc is a Cuban-born Guyanese, mother of five, wife, Doctor, Clinical Densitometrist, and Medical Herbalist. She completed her primary and secondary education in Guyana at St. Margaret’s Primary school and President’s College. A graduate of the
University of Western Ontario in 1991 with, BSc in Biology, Dr. VanWest-Charles-Le Blanc followed her lifelong dream of being a doctor. She began her medical studies at the University of Guyana and then continued at the Superior Institute of Medical Sciences of Havana, Cuba, where she graduated summa cum laude in 2003.
She was always interested in the use of herbs and acupuncture in health care, so, she went on to study and graduate from the East-West School of Planetary Herbology as a Certified Medical Herbalist.
Dr. VanWest-Charles-Le Blanc is also certified as a Clinical Densitometrist, where she focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of Osteoporosis. In 2009, she opened the doors to her private practice, Victoria Clinic – the home for holistic health care. In her practice, she
implements the use of Chinese and Western herbs, acupuncture, moxibustion, and cupping, along with conventional medical approaches to better assist her clients in achieving healthier lives.
She enjoys helping those who enter to seek that balance, and this is where her dreams become a reality. Dr. Asante VanWest-Charles-Le Blanc is redefining healthcare one patient at a time.
One of her passions is to help guide individuals on their road to optimum health, so she decided to integrate complementary, traditional medicine with conventional Western medicine. She has not regretted it for one second.
Another passion is helping anyone she meets to gain that optimum balance of mind, body, and spirit – to be healthy the best way possible.
Losing her grandmother to Cancer, she decided to do something more for persons affected by this terrible disease. So she began working with the Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society, where she is currently the Chairman of this country’s longest-standing NGOs. She is the face and voice of the organization, working to change the landscape of cancer screening and education in T&T.
She loves reading, listening to music, dancing, and just being around her family and friends, and if you know her, she loves to laugh. One of her many goals is to promote healthy lifestyles and healing using Eastern and Western medicine.
Dr. VanWest-Charles-Le Blanc believes strongly that health can be achieved by integrating and balancing the Eastern and Western approaches to medicine. In addition, she believes that one way to increase economic growth and progress is through the education and promotion of healthy lifestyles.
