Ayana McCalman, Attorney-at-Law, has been a Legal Practitioner for 10 years. Ayana was born in the village of Buxton. Ayana currently manages her legal enterprise– McCalman & Co Legal Services.

Ayana graduated from the University of Guyana in 2003 as the Best Graduating Law Student with a Bachelor of Laws Degree with Distinction, for which she received the Pro-Chancellor’s Medal.

In 2005 Ayana graduated with Honours from the Hugh Wooding Law School and was awarded the Guyana Government Prize as the Best Graduating Guyanese Student. Ayana’s work and legal experience includes serving as State Counsel in the Advice & Litigation Department of the Attorney General’s Chambers within the Ministry of Legal Affairs, Guyana, where she worked after her admission to the Guyana Bar in October, 2005.

She has also worked in the private sector and served as an Attorney-at-Law & Senior Associate at the Law Firm of Messrs. Hughes, Fields & Stoby.

In January 2013 Ayana relocated to Johannesburg, South Africa and served the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA) as the Communications & Justice Advocacy Officer up to July, 2014. Upon her return to Guyana she established McCalman & Co. Legal Services in September, 2014.

Ayana has founded her law practice based on her deep commitment to the values of peace, healing, and her vision to practice law as a healing profession. Ayana is committed to community service and also currently serves as a Director and Assistant Secretary to the Board of Directors of the Guyana Responsible Parenthood Association (GRPA).
