ABOUT BRAND YOUTH GLOBAL

Built to connect. Designed to activate.

Committed to impact.

Brand YOUth Global is a growing ecosystem rooted in Guyana and extending across the Caribbean, Africa, and the wider Global South — where people, purpose, and opportunity come into alignment.

We are not building a network. We are building the conditions for trusted relationships to become real outcomes.

Who We Are

Brand YOUth Global exists to solve a problem that talent alone cannot fix.

Guyana and the Global South have never lacked talented people. They have lacked the infrastructure to connect them — to each other, to opportunity, and to the trust that makes collaboration possible.

BYG was built to close that gap.

We believe that a person’s value is not just in what they know or what they have achieved. It is in who they can reach, who can reach them, and what becomes possible when the right people find each other.

That is the work. That is why BYG exists.

“A single purpose-driven entrepreneur has the potential to change the world. Imagine what a connected community of them can do.”

THE PHILOSOPHY

Relationship is Infrastructure

In most societies, infrastructure means roads, bridges, electricity, and broadband. These are the systems that make everything else possible.

But there is another kind of infrastructure — one that is harder to see and harder to build. It is the web of trusted relationships that allows ideas to move, capital to flow, talent to be discovered, and opportunities to reach the people most capable of acting on them.

When that web is weak, it doesn’t matter how talented your people are. Potential stays locked.

When that web is strong, remarkable things become possible — not because anything changed on paper, but because the right people found each other.

Brand YOUth Global is building that web. Deliberately. Intelligently. For Guyana and the Global South.

What We Are Building

The BYG ecosystem is structured around three interconnected pillars:

1. Contributors

A dynamic and growing network of professionals, creatives, thinkers, and builders — individuals who have committed their skills, knowledge, and presence to something larger than themselves.

Contributors are not passive members. They are active participants in the ecosystem — mentoring, collaborating, advising, and building alongside others.

2. Awardees

Those recognized for excellence, leadership, and impact. BYG awardees are not endpoints of recognition — they are catalysts. Their work, their presence, and their continued engagement shape the ecosystem and the spaces they occupy.

From our 40 Under 40 class of 2019 to the NextGen 12 of 2025, awardees carry the standard of what is possible.

3. The Exchange

The BYG Exchange is the matching infrastructure at the heart of the ecosystem. It moves beyond visibility into intelligent connection — using expertise, industry, skills, participation, and relationship signals to bring the right people together for the right reasons.

The Exchange does not just say: here are some people.

It says: here is who you should know — and here is why.

From Recognition to Contribution

At BYG, recognition is the beginning — not the destination.

Most recognition programs end with an award. A photo. A moment.

BYG starts there.

What follows recognition is the harder, more important work: positioning people within a network that understands who they are, what they can do, and how they can contribute — across borders, across generations, across sectors.

We create pathways for individuals to move beyond visibility into engagement. Not theoretical engagement. Real engagement — mentorships formed, businesses built, collaborations launched, problems solved.

BYG is building the connective layer where relationships are intentional, opportunities are structured, and contribution becomes part of identity.

Mission

To build trusted relationship infrastructure that connects skilled, purpose-driven people across Guyana and the Global South — enabling contribution, collaboration, and development at scale.

VISION

A world where the right people always find each other — where talent, trust, and opportunity are not separated by geography, information gaps, or the absence of a reliable introduction.

Objectives

  • Build a curated, verified community of purpose-driven individuals committed to contributing to Guyana and the Global South.

  • Create intelligent systems that surface the right connections at the right time — based on real signals, not just proximity.

  • Activate relationships into outcomes — mentorships, partnerships, investments, and initiatives that deliver measurable impact.

  • Position Brand YOUth Global as the trusted infrastructure for diaspora engagement and national development.

It didn’t begin with a registration.

It began with a Sunday afternoon show.

Before there was an organisation, before there was a name, before there was a registration — there was a problem that Selwyn Collins couldn’t ignore. Diasporans were casting disparaging remarks about young Guyanese people. Calling them lazy. Saying they were waiting for handouts. Dismissing the generation that was actually building, creating, and contributing on the ground.

That wasn’t his experience of them. Not even close.

So he did what you do when you have a platform and a conviction: he used it. He invited young Guyanese people onto his Conversations With Selwyn show — a special Sunday afternoon broadcast — to share their stories in their own words. Not to defend themselves. Not to argue with their critics. Just to be heard.

It worked. Perceptions shifted. The stories did what the arguments couldn’t.

That moment — the decision to create a stage for young people who were being talked about rather than listened to — is the origin of Brand YOUth Global. Everything that followed: the Awards, the forums, the Exchange, the Contributors network, the diaspora reach — all of it traces back to that Sunday afternoon show and the conviction that these young people deserved to be seen accurately.

“That wasn’t my experience of them. So I invited them on to share their stories — hoping it would change perception. It worked.”

A Note from the Founder

This is Brand YOUth Global.

I see young Guyanese purpose-driven entrepreneurs today, and it strengthens me. They are creative, community-minded, committed, and resourceful. Their instinct to act, to build, to move ideas forward convinced me that there is a real path toward shifting mindsets and developing Guyana for all its citizens.

What if we could bring them together? What if we could harness that collective energy — not in isolation, but in community? That question became the foundation of Brand YOUth Global.

But as the community grew, the question deepened.

It was no longer just: how do we develop entrepreneurs?

It became: how do we build the infrastructure that allows entrepreneurs, leaders, investors, and contributors to find each other — and build something meaningful together?

That question led to the BYG Exchange. To the relationship engine. To the philosophy that now drives everything we do.
RELATIONSHIP IS INFRASTRUCTURE

It is not a tagline.

It is an architecture.
It is the foundation of everything we are building.
And we are building it — deliberately, intelligently, and for the long term.

Because one purpose-driven individual can change the world, imagine what a connected community of them can do.
