Dr. Sandie Anderson passed the Common Entrance Exam from Bartica, Guyana and attended Bishops’ High School in Georgetown. She is a proud mother of 3 amazing children – her oldest is Mfundo Hlatshwayo who is the Chief Director for Global and Emerging Markets with the Treasury of South Africa and leads the G20 team for South Africa; her daughter Dr. Sandile Hlatshwayo, who is also on our panel today and is an Economist with the International Monetary Fund in Washington D.C.; her last born is Mduduzi Hlatshwayo who lives in Atlanta and is Supervisor of Integrated Communications with Assembly Global, a marketing agency.

Dr. Anderson lives in Silicon Valley, California and works as a Project Management consultant for leading medical device, pharmaceutical and internet security companies. She has over 20 years experience as a Project and Portfolio Management leader, directing global teams at Alza Corporation (a Johnson and Johnson company), Alexza Pharmaceuticals, and the Procter and Gamble Company shaping consumers’ interactions with products.

She has leveraged her background to develop and establish highly efficient systems, processes, and tools that led to multiple regulatory submissions and launches in Asia, Europe,Latin America and the Caribbean, and North America. Sandie has a passion for sharing her knowledge and mentoring others, and is a big advocate for girls and women.

She has a broad range of mentees, ranging from teenagers to adults, including the CEO and co-founder of a Silicon Valley company. She has created and led interactive learning modules and courses on mentoring, project management, FDA regulations, and pharmaceutical drug and medical device development processes. Sandie holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Michigan State University, which she obtained while working full-time with the Dow Chemical Company. Sandie also obtained M.S. and B.S. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Ohio University.
