On 25 April 2025, Brand YOUth Global convened established and emerging leaders at the Exhibition Centre, Pegasus Hotel, Georgetown, for the NextGen 12 Awards.

Twelve leaders were recognised for their contributions to Guyana’s development. In a defining expression of Building Bridges. Passing Batons., Special Awardees from BYG’s inaugural 2019 Awards returned to place ceremonial batons into the hands of the 2025 honourees.

The moment represented the intentional transfer of knowledge, encouragement, access, responsibility, and possibility from one generation of leaders to another.

The programme included opening remarks by Professor Paloma Mohamed Martin, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Guyana; a special address by 2019 Special Awardee Dr. Vishnu Doerga; and a keynote address by Madame Justice Roxane George, then Acting Chief Justice and now Chancellor of the Judiciary.

Founder and CEO Selwyn Collins delivered the closing remarks. The Deputy Chief of Mission at the United States Embassy was among the distinguished guests in attendance.

BYG Contributor Jenel Persaud served as Event Coordinator, demonstrating how members of the ecosystem contribute their expertise to move the work forward.

Through CWS As It Is, the 2019 Forty Under Forty Entrepreneurial Awards, the 2025 NextGen 12, and ongoing member storytelling, BYG has created platforms for emerging and established leaders to be seen, heard, and recognised.

The International Women’s Forum, Tax Reform Forum, retreats, town halls, and public conversations have brought people together across generations, sectors, communities, and countries.

Through Special Awardees, Contributors, honorary members, diaspora allies, and the BYG Exchange, people are invited to share expertise, build relationships, create opportunities, and contribute to the growth of others.
