How did you arrive at the Idea of your business?
As a child growing up I never missed the release of Miss USA and Miss Universe and so was always intrigued by the costumes and evening wear and excitement of the pageants and so I was already sketching in primary school and I made up my mind in high school that I want to be a fashion designer.
What was you key driving force to become a fashion designer?
Determination and passion drove me to be where I am today as many told me I can’t, it is not masculine to be in fashion, it’s not a good enough job and so I was ready to prove them wrong and live my dream.
What is your greatest challenge being and entrepreneur?
Currently my greatest challenge is being able to balance and separate my personal life from my business life because fashion is so personal go me… creativity is personal to any artist.
What has been your most satisfying moment in business?
My most satisfying moment in business is definitely that moment sitting with my staff and looking at the live show of the Miss Earth 2019 Costume Competition and seeing Guyana ajudged Best National Costume which in essence was declares Best National Costume of the year 2019 for international pageants by leading pageant blog Missossology. I literally started scream shaking, crying and even fell off the chair…. no exaggerations.
What piece of advice would you give young people who want to become entrepreneurs?
Be passionate and love what you do as this will be the driving force that cost determination, will, bravery, hard work and the kind of stubborn that makes u want to go the entire 10 miles no matter what stones are thrown at you. You will eventually use those stones to build and empire.
How do you define success?
Success is the sense of joyous satisfaction you feel after bravery, compromise, sacrifice, determination and discipline to overcome when you overcame.
Who has been your greatest inspiration?
This somewhat changes with time for me. Currently my greatest inspiration is my good friend Ravi Latchman who is the owner of Colors of India. Ravi is my age and has grown his business into an amazing success reaching clients and partnerships across the world selling Indian garments and accessories. His love for life, family and God while making time for all these and managing his business inspired me to be more discipline and invest better and more strategically.
